I'm participating in the #escapril writing challenge on my Instagram (@satin_ink), and they're mainly little drafts and not fully formed prose or poetry, but I'm going to put my favourite ones on here.
The prompt for this was 'April Showers'. Enjoy!
You left tulips by my door
at rosy sunshine's hour,
but they're not quite my shade,
as I'm a Calla Lily flower.
Your colours don't offend me,
I wish I was that bright,
but no vase can make me bloom
when my natural shade is white.
But
If you bring me light and water,
hold my hand through April Showers,
my Calla petals one day may be
as pretty as your flowers.
